RoboSense shows RS-V2X Perception Solution for Intelligent Transportation Systems

New LiDAR for Intelligent Transportation 

RoboSense unveils the RS-Ruby-80V and the RS-Ruby-48V at ITS World Congress 2022. These LiDARs are modified to "look" down at the road from a standard streetlight height. This low FOV enables the LiDAR to be mounted horizontally, preventing unnecessary wear caused by off-axis mounting. 

The 80V is an 80-beam LiDAR for high definition perception at 130 meters.
The 48V is a 48-beam LiDAR for efficient perception at 90 meters.

These V-designated LiDARs are the next generation of roadway-based LiDAR for Intelligent Transportation Systems. Both LiDARs are in the same body as the new RS-Ruby Plus, allowing for streamlined mass production. They can both scan to a range of 200 meters; their respective perception ranges refer to the range at which they can classify an obstacle as a pedestrian, cyclist, car, bus, or truck.

The RoboSense RS-V2X Vehicle-to-Road Synergistic Perception System

Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) is communication between a vehicle and any entity that may affect, or may be affected by, the vehicle. It is a vehicular communication system that incorporates other more specific types of communication as V2I (vehicle-to-infrastructure), V2N (vehicle-to-network), V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle), V2P (vehicle-to-pedestrian), V2D (vehicle-to-device). The RS-V2X solution provides the V2R function for a V2X system. It detects, classifies, and tracks pedestrians, cyclists, cars, buses, and trucks by giving real-time geospatial velocities of these obstacles. The software output can be viewed as a point cloud with accurately sized boxes, or cylinders for pedestrians, around each classified obstacle. Through sensor fusion, it can also overlay this data over a live video, giving the user useful road data along with a user-friendly video scene of the environment:

RS-V2X Functions:

Multi base-station & multi LIDAR fusion

The RS-V2X solution provides the target-level fusion function of the LiDAR sensing results based on a multi-base station and realizes the precise spatial-temporal synchronization of the LiDAR point cloud of the multi-base station so that all base stations are integrated into a spatial-temporal synchronized whole.

Electronic Fence

Through RS-V2X, users can set dynamic electronic fences of any shape according to traffic scenarios and functional requirements and define independent functions for each fence, such as specific target filtering, customized communications, etc.

RoboSense's accurate and reliable AI Perception Software allows more than ten traffic scene functions, including traffic flow statistics, vehicle speed detection, retrograde detection, pedestrian red-light running, etc.

LiDAR And Camera Fusion

Based on the RoboSense fusion technology of LiDAR and camera, the RS-V2X provides the bottom layer data fusion function of LiDAR and camera to obtain real-time synchronized true color point cloud data (x, y, z, r, g, b). (RoboSense 3)
